6/2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal - Micah's birthday, he got a hat from Nana and Jim to match Elijah's, the third one is Sparx's.
Dear Family and Friends,

Chandra has only 2 weeks to go until our second baby girl is due! Please pray for a safe and healthy baby and delivery. Even though Micah was successfully delivered here, it is hospital politics that are challenging. Recently, a western friend went to the hospital, and although she waited awhile to be triaged, she ended up having the baby in the waiting room on the floor. The system moves slowly, and as Chandra likes to labor at home as long as possible since the hospital is not the best facility, it would be nice to be admitted quickly. Please pray that all the politics go smoothly, as well of course for the labor and delivery and a healthy baby. Pray for no complications that their medical facilities can't handle, and for Chandra to be focused to enable the labor to go well, as there is no pain medication available, and Ryan will probably not be able to be in the labor room because it is shared by many women. Ryan's mother has just arrived to stay with the kids, and we are very grateful! However, Chandra's western midwife is out of town for 1 week, and Chandra would prefer she be here.

It is a hot time of the year now, being in the 90's daily. The monsoon season should have started, but really has not, so we really need the rain. It has become rather humid with the rain that has come, but we need much more. Our load shedding is really improved, but we do still have some scheduled outages.

3/2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal - The local zoo for the kid's birthdays.

KISC has finished the school year this week, so Alicia is out of school and finished with Grade 1! Elijah still has one week left of pre-school. Since our last update, Alicia has turned 6, Elijah has turned 4, and Micah has turned 2! They have all grown so much and are such a blessing everyday!

Chandra has officially finished her role as Assistant to the CEO, but has signed a contract to help import data into the KISC database over the next year. This position will be part-time from home, and at Chandra's pace, so it is ideal to still be a part of the work KISC is doing and take it easy at home with the baby and kids.

5/2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal - The kids and Chandra.
You may remember many posts about our friend Punam, who has had many medical troubles. She is only in her early thirties, and has struggled much with high blood pressure for years, and has now had kidney problems for a couple of years. A few months ago, she started on dialysis, which is Very expensive for a Nepali family. Unfortunately, the dialysis is not working, and Punam will probably need a kidney transplant. She has no matches for a donor within her family. This leaves her with having to find someone who will "sell" a donation to her, as this is the only other way here, as they do not do organ transplants from deceased patients due to religious beliefs. This will prove incredibly expensive for her family, and she does not seem healthy enough to travel to India where a transplant can be done. Please pray with us for Punam. She is an incredibly sweet, joyful, and lovely girl. She does believe in Christ, but her family does not. Pray that she would receive healing or be able to attain the finances needed to complete a transplant, as well as a donor and be healthy enough to travel and recover. Also pray that her family will see the power of Christ in her faith.

4/2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal - Easter eggs! Yum.
Nepal was meant to have drafted a new constitution a few weeks ago, but the government has changed the deadline for a year from now. In the beginning of May, the biggest Maoist demonstration in Nepal to date occurred. Maoists bussed over ... supporters to Kathmandu to participate in the strike. It was mostly a peaceful demonstration, but small pockets of violence did occur. For one week, all businesses and traffic were shut down, with penalties for opening. It was a challenge to all to stock up ahead of time on necessities, and to function over the week. It was a challenge, but the most difficult part was that the strike was indefinite, so we did not know ahead of time how long it would last. It was at the end of the week that it didn't look like we would have enough food variety to last much longer, and was a blessing that the strike ended. It did not end in resolving the political issues, but in the Maoists deciding the strike was too difficult on the "general public", and that they would only carry on in the political arena.

We will have a shorter update soon to announce the birth of our baby and will include pictures! Thank you for your prayers!

The grace of our Lord be with you,
<>< The Jamesons (Chandra for us all)

8/2006 - Colorado Springs
God is willing, and in the spring of 2007, our family relocated indefinitely to Kathmandu, Nepal. There we serve at a school and have begun to learn the language and culture of a country in transition.

Nepal's transition is not just political, it is spiritual as well. The vast majority of the country, 95%+ depending on who you ask, is a combination of Hindu and Buddhist. The last 50 years have seen tremendous progress in this Country and we want to continue that work.

The school we spoke of earlier needs our help. Ryan serves teaching IT. Chandra is helping as the primary secretary, but with the kids so young it will not be full time for her.

So here is where you come in. The spiritual climate in the whole region wears heavily on Christians here. One couple we met, whose kids graduated from the school, have been there for over 15 years. They have encountered a lot of challenges, but are still going strong. We believe with them that it takes a foundation of spiritual support to free us to succeed. It is a principle God put in place, that we are truly a body. It is our hope that every one of you will pray for us as often as possible in the years and hopefully decades to come.

Matthew 6:21 - "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

The school cannot pay us to work. Most of the students come from missionary families that survive themselves on the shoulders of their supporters. So we are asking for you to consider allocating some of your treasure to support us. We realize many of you are not in such a position, for you we ask that you pray for us as though you had given us your treasures. If you do support us financially, please pray for us like you have given all you have. Sincere spiritual support is the key to long term missionaries and their success. It is only in believing the Matthew 6:21 (above) and 1 Corinthians 12:12 (the body of Christ) principles that I can rebuke my own pride and ask you to be our partners. Please allow us to climb on your shoulders and go to Nepal to contribute our talents to the move of God there.

The students are nearly all children of nearby ministers involved in medicine, church planting, education, and more. We consider it an honor to help empower these families to stay longer and do more. It will take us years to learn the culture well enough to even begin to communicate well with the locals. So we consider it a double blessing to be in a position to be fruitful as soon as our feet hit the ground. We love the people of Nepal, and we have every intention of being part of local ministry to nationals. It's just great that we can step into this support role immediately. Praise the Lord.

Psalm 50:10 - "...for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills."

We believe the principle of Psalm 50:10. God owns everything. He can and will provide for us. We just hope to some degree that you, our brothers and sisters, will be the vessels He uses. In that way we will be part of the vine, exactly where God wants us. Leaning on God and you to achieve things we could never do alone.
